Game of Thrones – Wedding Vows

How long do think it will take for all the nerds out there to start using the Game of Thrones wedding vows? I give it a couple of weeks.

“In the sight of the Seven, I hereby see you these two souls, binding them as one for eternity. Look upon one another and say the words.”

Father. Smith. Warrior. Mother. Maiden. Crone. Stranger. I am his/hers, and s/he is mine, from this day, till the end of my days.

I’m also getting married in January and my fiancé and I have joked about using these vows. I love them though. I may have to do a little more convincing. LOL

I want an entire wedding ceremony like the game of thrones. Just not their reception. I’ll bed my wife when we’re ready lol.

That marriage didn’t end well, did it?

Mine has asked to use these vows…I’m on the fence between these and Star Wars vows…

For those cynically pointing out the wedding didn’t end well, technically it didn’t end well for the other guests, it was well consummated by the bride and groom. (Although I don’t know what may happen to them in the future… no one is really safe in that world… They’ll probably all be fried by dragon fire in the end…dragons are so cute.) 🙂

It’s funny because the books came out before the TV show – nerds have already been using the GoT wedding vows. And to the people saying that they need to convince their fiance/bf/gf, why does there need to be convincing? Can’t you just write them into your own vows?
Idk I haven’t been married so all I know is what I see on TV and there’s a part when Dexter is getting married and he says “I promise to be the best husband I can be” or something like that.

The first time I heard the Northern Vows I fell in love with them, I plan on using them with small alterations regarding the gods. GOT is the best show that has ever been on HBO or any other cable network the talent on that show is remarkable and has no equal.

“Father. Smith. Warrior. Mother. Maiden. Crone.”
What does this part mean, I’ve been trying to look it up.

It’s more or less referring to the ranks for each gender. In my mind, it’s saying in a very poetic way that “I will love you no matter who you are”. That’s how I think of it, though I could be totally wrong 🙂

They are the different gods in Game of Thrones.

Getting married in July of this year and I am using it. My fiance was actually the one who came up with the idea. <3
