Wedding Fair
Yesterday was the Bride's Diary Wedding Fair. My good friend Lisa Barrett from Tango & James styled my booth and it looked awesome. Make sure you take a good look at all of Lisa's furniture and accessories because she is a very talented lady! The photos below were once again taken on my iPhone...I love that thing.

Rachel & Dylan
There are people in life that you meet and just click with, for me Rachel and Dylan are some of those people. As soon as I met them I knew I wanted to shoot their wedding day and that is was going to be a blast! Thankfully they decided to book me and today I get to share their amazing wedding with you. Rachel & Dylan had a reasonably small wedding with 50 close friends and family attending, they had no wedding party and there was no fuss. It was simple, relaxed and most of all heaps of fun! The only stressful part of the day I can remember is when Rachel's Mum pricked her finger and bled over the back of the wedding dress...that was a tense few moments until the blood was washed off.

Bridal Caps
Bridal caps have been popular for a while now and I've heard some strong opinions for and against them. I think they can look awesome, but like most fashionable things you have to have the right face to wear one (by right I'm trying to say good looking in a polite way). Also do you think they would get itchy? I can imagine that they might irritate ones forehead...what a downer I am, always thinking practically. The bridal caps below are from Twigs & Honey and BHLDN.

Lucille & Chris
Chilled, that's how I would describe Chris and Lucille. Everything about them is relaxed and easy to be around, it was such pleasure to take their wedding photos! It was so much fun to photograph all the colourful chucks, polkadots and petticoats. I love how much Chris and Lucille made their wedding their own...from their clothes, to Chris singing as Lucille walked down the aisle, to them having the band The Jane Austen Argument providing the beautiful music for the reception. Thanks to Tuli for being my second, it was a perfect day.

Josh & Jessana
So Josh and Jessana's wedding day began with my car breaking down, then one of my cameras stopped working just as Jessana walked down the aisle and finally during the location shoot I walked into a giant spider's web which I was pulling out of my hair for the rest of the day...but besides that it was a perfect wedding. Josh and Jessana are one of those couples that are easy to be around, they are just so relaxed and it was such a pleasure to take their wedding photos! They are a photographers dream couple...I'm like "See that forest that's really hard to get into? Well, I'd love for you to walk in there wearing your fancy wedding clothes and look as attractive as possible", Josh is like "ok" and Jessana looks a little nervous but follows Josh into the forest without complaint. I quickly…

Thorson Photography Magazine
So this year instead of giving out postcards or some other kind of pamphlet, we have made the first annual Thorson Photography Magazine! It's pretty exciting to see my images in print (even if I'm the one doing the printing). In the magazine there are features on a few different couples from 2011, with a short blurb sharing a little bit about their weddings. So if you are coming to any of the wedding fairs this year make sure that you visit me and pick one up....they are free!

Kristine & Nathan
Kristine and Nathan's day was officially the most emotional wedding of 2011. It started off with stress, the zippers in the bridesmaid's dresses broke two hours before the wedding...so this meant they spent their morning with the seamstress and met Kristine at the ceremony. Then there were tears, so many tears...Kristine's family are criers. But I'm pretty sure Tuli and I shed a few ourselves during the ceremony and speeches. Then there was laughter! I've never been to a wedding where the bride and groom had to compete in challenges against one another (Kristine won), along with the audience taking bets on how long the best man's speech would take...hilarious.

Janine & Alan
Alan and Janine got married in Wee Jasper and it was one of the most beautiful locations for a wedding I have ever seen! The couple got married down by the river and then their reception was at a beautiful old homestead. Only having 40 guests really made the day very personal, it was a real joy to be a part of Alan and Janine's lovely wedding.

Genevieve & James
I loved Genevieve and James' wedding! It was so simple, yet it was missing nothing. There were no bridesmaids, groomsmen, bouquets, white dress or anything really traditionally 'weddingish'. Instead there was an incredible apricot dress, a younger brother's punk band and lots of family and friends. This was a truly balanced wedding where relationships came first and details were almost non-existent.

Tracey & Joel
I have very little in common with Tracey & Joel. They have lots of pets, I have no pets. They paint their house in bright colours, I'm very boring and am going through a white stage. They are good at gardening and I'm very, very bad at gardening...you get the idea. But the one thing we do have in common is our love of creative photography! It was wonderful having Tracey & Joel's input into their photos and that they were just as excited as I was about the images. I really couldn't have asked for an easier or more fun couple...we had a blast. Their wedding was held in the 'forest' at Weston Park, it was a beautiful ceremony and I love how Tracey and Joel really injected themselves into every aspect of the day. We can all learn from them...be yourselves people! Thanks to Tuli for…

A Rainy Wedding
Rain on a wedding day by most is seen to be a bad thing, trying to keep a giant white dress white is hard enough without adding water and mud into the equation. But personally I don't really mind the rain because sometimes it brings about some magical images. You may remember a couple of weeks ago I blogged about giving my shoes to a bride and getting wet feet. Well at the time I'm pretty sure the wonderful Bronwyn & Ben thought I was a little crazy making them walk through muddy puddles, but now seeing this image hopefully it will all make sense. Thanks for being such good sports guys and going along with my eccentric behaviour!

Reto & Marita
I remember the first time I spoke to Marita, I was at the Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets and my phone rang. I answered and on the other end of the line was one of the coolest brides I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. As soon as we started chatting we hit it off, Marita explained ideas for her wedding...popcorn, fairy floss, a rockabilly band and I responded with excited remarks like "yes!", "perfect!" and "awesome!". Pretty quickly the conversation moved to the fact that Marita's fiancé Reto was Swiss and that they really wanted to incorporate parts of his culture into the wedding day. As I listened to Marita's ideas and learnt more about her and Reto's relationship all I could think was "please book me, please book me, please book me!!!". So needless to say I was super pumped when…

Amy & Yana
It's crazy how different each wedding is, I know most have big white dresses, cake and kisses...but each has a specific flavour. Amy and Yana's wedding flavour was definitely emotional, I know what you are thinking "every wedding is emotional Amanda" and I would agree but still answer "not like this". There was beautiful openness in Amy and Yana, along with their families...they all loved each other so much and shared this throughout the day with laughter and lots of tears. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and I felt so privileged to photograph a wedding where both the bride and groom held their heart on their sleeve.

Wet Feet
This is a photo from the wedding I shot last weekend and once again I'm bare foot in a puddle. The bride is wearing my more practical shoes so her's don't get spoiled and I've been wondering why I can't kick this cold! I'm pretty sure the answer lies in this image...my mum would have a fit.

Heidi & Dave
Ok, think of the nicest people you know and times it by five...Heidi and Dave are ten times nicer than that. When I think about them as a couple I can't help but smile and not a little smile, we are talking a huge ass grin. I cried during their ceremony and reception, pretty much I fell in love with them and that's why I'm so excited to share their wedding day with you! Heidi and Dave's wedding was held and their church followed by a beautiful reception at The Lobby. For their location photos they wanted to go to their favourite book store and just to hang out....it was the best! Also I wanted to point out how great Heidi's 'bridal' taste was, her dress and shoes were hot. I know you will enjoy looking at this post. Before I show you their beautiful wedding let me just mention how Dave…

Evan & Zoe
Some weddings are just perfect...like Evan and Zoe's. They are such an amazing couple, always putting others before themselves and it was just so wonderful to see all the people who love them come together and celebrate. Both Zoe and Evan are creatives, so it makes sense that their wedding would be filled with lovely handmade details and along with that, Evan singing an original song he wrote for Zoe...as I said it was perfect.

Nanette & Tarun
I’m so excited to be sharing Nanette & Tarun’s wedding with you today. They might just be one of the greatest couples I have had the pleasure of shooting…they were just so much fun! This was a wedding planned so that the guests would have a great time, from the McDonalds snack break for the wedding party, to the ‘kids bag’ full of colouring in or the amazing dancers hired. It was the perfect day, if you would like to see more check out my Facebook where I’ve posted more images from this lovely day!
