Dave Blogs

I have a hilarious friend named Dave and he is featured in two super funny Blogs that you should check out. His wife Jessica writes a blog called “Crap that Dave says” which is exactly that…crazy stuff that Dave talks about. Then recently Dave started his own blog called “Crap that Dave dreams” which is filled with all his crazy dreams…this blog cracks me up! It also creeps me out just a little cause we find out how much Dave dreams about Caleb & I!

Jane Campion

Jane Campion is a visual genius…her movies are spectacular. There is a sadness and beauty to her pictures that I love so much. The Piano is almost 20 years old, but it really is a timeless movie…with an incredible sound track.Bright Star is also amazing.

The beautiful dresses of BHLDN watch and enjoy.

Evan & Zoe's Engagement

I’m so excited to share this shoot with you today! Evan and Zoe are an amazing couple and it was so much fun to take their engagement photos. We started the day sharing a little food and drink at Tilley’s in Lyneham and then we moved to the park so Evan could teach Zoe how to throw a boomerang. This was quite a fitting activity as Evan is Australian and Zoe grew up everywhere (a military kid) including Japan and the USA.

These two are a such a creative pair, I love following Zoe’s blog and Evan is an amazing musician so make sure you have a listen to his music here. I’m so excited to take their wedding photos next month!

SOHI - Kids Shoot

Some of you may remember last year I did a shoot for SOHI Magazine’s summer issue (check it out here) and the other day I realised I never showed you some of the extra shots that didn’t make the issue. This was such a fun day, it was my first and only time shooting kids fashion.

The King's Speech

I’ll admit I wasn’t really that interested in watching The King’s Speech, I know it got great rotten tomatoes and it won all sorts of awards…but it didn’t really look like my sort of thing. So boy was I surprised when I finally sat down (or lay down as I was sick) and watched it.The story was lovely, but more than that the visuals were amazing! Beautiful foggy streets and a muted colour palatte made this movie a pleasure to watch. Also the wallpapers! I just loved the Art deco patterns that were prominent throughout The Kins Speech.Lastly Lionel Logue's office space was run down but beautiful, I loved it!

Nanette & Tarun

I’m so excited to be sharing Nanette & Tarun’s wedding with you today. They might just be one of the greatest couples I have had the pleasure of shooting…they were just so much fun! This was a wedding planned so that the guests would have a great time, from the McDonalds snack break for the wedding party, to the ‘kids bag’ full of colouring in or the amazing dancers hired. It was the perfect day, if you would like to see more check out my Facebook where I’ve posted more images from this lovely day!

Movie Ring Bearers

I’m sick and I have been for the last week or so…the only good thing about this (besides getting to catch up on movie viewing) is I have lots of time to think. Yesterday all over the news there was the couple who had the Lord of the Rings themed wedding, complete with Gollum as the ring bearer. If you missed it go here and get ready you are in for a treat. As I mentioned I’ve been ‘sick thinking’ a lot and this wedding got me wondering, what other hollywood characters would make interesting (hopefully not quiet as creepy) ring bearers? I’ve come up with a few, keep in mind I’m totally happy for you to use these in your own weddings as long as you credit me with the original idea.

1. I’m a huge fan of 80’s movies so I’m thinking a Say Anything theme would be awesome. A John Cusack look alike could walk down the isle holding his boom box over his head and the ring would be conveniently hidden in his trench coat pocket. Note: obviously the boom box would be playing ‘In Your Eyes’ by Peter Gabriel.2. In honour of my Father I'm going to include The Matrix. The ring bearer would have to be a large African American man wearing sunglasses and the bride and groom would have to choose between the red and blue rings.3. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou was the choice (we are huge Wes Anderson fans in our household). If you are a conservative couple this may not be the option for you as the ring bearer would be in honour of the running chick. But if you are a budget conscious couple this could be the choice for you...all you would need is a curly haired friend and a pair of running shorts.I would love to hear your ideas for ring bearers, if you have some to contribute please post them on my Facebook.

Winter Wonderland - The Family

The other styled shoot at Winter Wonderland was a family. Now I’m not a family or children’s photographer, so I kind of hung back during this shoot…but I still learnt some new tips and managed to snap a few shots to share with you!

Winter Wonderland - The Couple

Good morning friends! Today I’m excited to share with you some more images from the Winter Wonderland workshop I attended. Christine did a wonderful job organising a shoot for the second afternoon which was styled the very talented Scout & Charm. Here are some of the images I took that afternoon, the rest will be on my Facebook.

Winter Wonderland - Kate

While I was at Winter Wonderland I had the privilege of photographing Kate Bussey in one of our projects…she was a wonderful model and I was so happy with how they turned out!

Winter Wonderland

I just got back from Winter Wonderland, a lovely photography workshop put together by Christine Pobke. It was great to spend a weekend learning from ChristineSamm and Sheye and spending time with like minded people. I’m excited to be sharing some images with you from the workshop over the next week or so.

When we were visiting our good friends Dave and Jessica in Minnesota we thought it would be funny for the boys to have ‘Best Friends’ photo shoot. It was hilarious…even when I was editing the photos of Caleb and Dave I was cracking up! I hope you enjoy this bit of fun.

Joie Fall - Behind the Scenes

This weekend I had the pleasure of shooting another fashion spread for Joie Magazine. I had a lovely time down at Uriarra Crossing with Lisa, Hannah and Lauren. I took some behind the scenes shots so you can have a little snoop into what we were doing, enjoy! If you want a little more detail about what’s going on in the photos check out my Facebook. Also if you are interested in seeing some of the images from the last shoot I did for Joie go here.

Pigeon Toe

It seems everywhere I look at the moment I see Pigeon Toe products…and why not? They are amazing! Pretty much at the moment I’m sorting through my favourite pieces trying to work out what to buy first. So I thought I would show you what I’m deciding between. The Pleated String Lights are on the very top of my list. I’ve been very into triangles at the moment, so these Triangle Cards are perfect! How beautiful are these Peaked Nesting Bowls?

I like sports a lot. I love going to a game! The crowd, yelling being socially acceptable and eating hotdogs…what more could you ask for?

When I first lived in the states and met Caleb we used to go see the Twins play all the time as it was a cheap night out ($3). So when it was announced that the Twins had a new stadium I knew we would have to go to a game next time we visited…unfortunately the tickets are no longer $3.

We had the best time and it didn’t hurt that the winning run was scored by Luke Hughes the Twins only Australian player!

Virgin Suicides

Many of you know how much I love Sofia Coppola movies…the woman is a genius. My love affair with her movies began with Virgin Suicides, I remember seeing it in high school and being mesmerised by its beautiful images and story telling. If you haven’t seen it…you must!

The Cabin

The first thing we did when we arrived in the States was to visit Chipotle (to eat a burrito the size of a baby). The second thing we did was to travel north of the Twin Cities and go to our friends Dave and Jessica’s cabin. We had a lovely few days…reading, watching Harry Potter, cross stitching, sleeping and going out in the boat. Hope you like.

At the Zoo

I’m not the biggest fan of family portraits. Perhaps it’s that I began my photographic career working in a ‘family’ studio and spent my days getting my hair pulled by screaming children. I’m not a kid person…but I love my nieces and nephews! They could pull my hair all day long and I wouldn’t love them any less. I also love taking their photos, yes I do traditional family portraits for them…but by far my favourite thing to do is just follow them around while they are being kids. I had an amazing time photographing them at the lake which if you missed is here…another adventure we went on was going to the zoo. I hope you enjoy!

Family Lake Time

For the last month I’ve been in the States visiting friends and family…I’m excited to share some of the images I took with you!
