I Know It’s Not A Special Day For You…

It’s been a while since my last rant and so I thought I’d share with you what I’ve been thinking about lately!

I’m now shooting about 40 weddings per year and I’ve been worried that I was going to get sick of it…but thankfully that hasn’t happened yet. But I’ve seen a lot of other wedding vendors (including photographers) that it has happened to and it’s kind of starting to tick me off. Now you may be thinking “well Amanda it’s none of your business if people like their job or not” and you would be correct, but when wedding vendors make their couples feel like crap on their wedding day then I feel like it is my business. So here is my message to people who are no longer enjoying working at weddings, either get better at hiding it or get another job! It may be just another Saturday for you, but this is one of the most important days in this couple’s life and so you need to think about them before yourself! You have the ability to make this couple’s wedding amazing or crap, just depending on how you behave…so behave well.

I’m going to be completely honest with you, I don’t wake up on the morning of every wedding and think “Yes, I’m going to a wedding!” because sometimes I’m tired or even sick. But by the time I’m leave my house you better believe I’m excited, because I’ve spent the morning thinking about that day’s couple, about all the hard work they’ve put into their wedding and more importantly the huge commitment they’re about to make. It’s not hard to get excited when you care about people, I honestly love weddings and have fun every week! Annika and I constantly tell each other what an amazing job we have, we get to meet wonderful people and share in something that only their closest friends and families are a part of…it’s a privilege!

The image above is from a wonderful wedding that I’m hoping to share with you tomorrow, but we’ll see how organised I am.
